GAYER
RESIDENCE
This
new home was built on a hard clay subsoil. We had a high
berm in the backyard which directed water into the house.
We had to install a french drain to divert the water. We
then added compost to break up the clay soil. Different
ornamental grasses, Russian Sage and Maximillian Sunflower
were used to fill the berm and soften the abruptness of
the slope. This garden looks spectacular in the hot part
of the summer and is very interesting throughout the winter.
Lower water Tall Fescue was used for the lawn, and all
plants are very drought tolerant. A weather station is
used to monitor and adjust the sprinkler system for maximum
water saving. |
